Safeguarding Data Storage, Data Backup and Encryption

The University of Leeds has recently introduced new procedures and risk assessment forms for the purpose of evaluating information risk with regards to research data backup/storage. The new procedures apply to all research applications submitted and research applications awarded after 01 January 2010 with the exception of travel grants.

Following notification of the success of your application:-

• The PI will be asked to make contact with the Faculty IT Manager to discuss the Research Data Risk Assessment Award Stage Form (RAASF).
• The Faculty IT Manager will decide on a case by case basis if further action is required.
• The Faculty IT Manager will then complete the RAASF on behalf of the PI.
• The PI and Faculty IT Manager will be asked to sign the RAASF evidencing agreement.
• The signed RAASF will be held in the Faculty Research Office.
